Getting Volunteers Onboard

The CVS volunteering team would like to support your organisation to develop high quality volunteering opportunities. We can offer one-to-one information, accredited training opportunities, help with recruitment and much more

Getting Started

Before you recruit volunteers we would encourage you to think about issues such as:

  • Who will support the volunteers? Do they need to be CRB checked?
  • What will they do? Is there role written down into a Role Description?
  • Do you have a good induction for new volunteers?
  • How do you value your volunteers?
  • What policies, procedures and systems do you have in place to support them?
  • Are you well prepared to run your one-off or taster volunteering opportunity?
  • Is it easy for young people to ‘get on board’? How do you deal with enquiries about volunteering?
  • How are you going to actively target young volunteers?

Don’t worry CVS can provide all the support, information and guidance you need…Ask about the ‘Good Practice guide on Involving Volunteers’ and other handy hints info sheets or check out www.cvswl.org/vinvolved.

Whether you are experienced in working with volunteers or just have ideas to get them onboard, get in touch with CVS to see what support we can offer to your group to help you involve, recruit, support and recognise volunteers
