A job opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Officer to lead and develop the Coalfield Regeneration Trust funded Training Project.
The project aims to deliver level 2 accredited Open College Network courses to people and organisations within Coalfield’s top priority areas of the Wigan borough and deliver a range of taster sessions where people can get a feel for the subject as well as for how we deliver the training.

Purpose of the post
Aim: To ensure the delivery of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) funded training programme.
Job Description
- To develop and deliver level 2 Open College Network (OCN) courses that target coalfields areas within the Wigan Borough.
- To develop and deliver taster sessions aimed at encouraging participation of the above accredited courses.
- To assess learners evidence and internally moderate programmes and courses
- To undertake responsibility for Open College Network (OCN) centre approval and the quality standards set by OCN and development of internal systems and accreditation.
- To provide a strategic role in the development of training to the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in the Borough of Wigan.
- To be responsible for the monitoring, recording and evaluation of the Training Project services and make recommendations accordingly.
- To be responsible for the monitoring and reporting of Training Project finances, outcomes and outputs.
- In conjunction with the Chief Officer, to help manage the Training Project budget and provide regular reports to CVS Board and CRT.
- Marketing and publicity of the Training Project, its services and the courses.
- To develop an exit strategy for the Training Project and assist in the development a new Training Project if appropriate.
- Work in partnership with other organisations to encourage participants to undertake 50 hours voluntary work.
- Line manage the Training Project administrator and volunteers on behalf of the CVS Board.
- Work alongside new and existing CVS projects to provide added value.
- To contribute to the development of CVS policies and strategies, including the business plan, as part of the senior management team.
- To identify and meet targets set in agreement with the senior management team and CVS Board.
- Attend staff and management meetings as requested.
- Adhere to the mission and policies of Wigan and Leigh CVS.
- Such other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Chief Officer/ Board which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
