We understand that you have many demands on your time and money and that when you invest in training it needs to be worthwhile. By providing more details about our courses, we hope you will be in a good position to select those which will be most useful and appropriate for you and/or your colleagues. This is why we have come up with the training directory ‘Unleashing Your Potential’.

‘Unleashing Your Potential’ is an A5 directory which is available in hardcopy for any Wigan and Leigh CVS Members and can be downloaded as a PDF file by following the link at the bottom of this page.

It contains a brief outline of the courses we provide, a welcome page with how to book a course, costs of the courses, a cancellation policy, details about our customised training and at the back there is a foldout booking form for you to photocopy and a Calendar of the Rolling Programme of training for the year.

Quality and Variety

The Rolling Programme of Training contains an interesting mix of courses, some focusing on practical work skills, some designed to help you work smarter, others that look at organisational needs and those that focus on personal/professional development.

We have a mixture of trainers who have a background and qualification in the area they are delivering. By having different trainers on board, but who all have knowledge around the voluntary and community sector, we believe this makes for high quality and stimulating training experiences - no matter how many courses you attend!

  Easy to access

The programme is designed to be as easy to access as possible.

Firstly, this means courses are affordable, offering excellent value for money.

Secondly, courses are held at a venue that is easy to reach and accessible to all and most importantly within the community.

Finally, courses are held at times which allow for caring responsibilities, the majority starting at 10am and finishing at 3pm .

  Meeting your needs

If you would like one of our scheduled courses delivered specifically to your organisation, at a time and venue that suits you best, or if there is a topic not covered in our programme that you feel would benefit your organisation, call us and we'll do our best to organise a customised course for you.

We will work with you to clearly identify your needs, liaise with an appropriate trainer and even organise the practical arrangements.

If paying for training is a problem, we can help to identify other groups who could share the training and the costs with you and/or work with you to identify funding opportunities to secure those much needed funds. We have a dedicated funding officer, Louise Haigh, who is always willing to come out to groups and help them with funding applications. You can contact Louise on lhaigh@cvswl.org or 01942 514234.

If you have any questions about training, call Claire, Wendy, Carol or Sarah on: 01942 514234 who are always willing to help or direct you to the best person to deal with your enquiry.

If you have any ideas for Training Courses/Workshops that you feel would be valuable to yourself and to others in the Wigan Borough please email Claire Ross, Training Officer, at  training@cvswl.org  or telephone 01942 514234.
We cannot promise to include everything suggested, but we can promise to try and deliver everything that our community needs/wants.

All courses at Wigan and Leigh CVS aim to be delivered in an informal, friendly, non-threatening, but sometimes challenging way. They acknowledge that all people are individuals. The aim of courses are to help people develop their own knowledge/skills base in a way which is enjoyable and fun.

We look forward to seeing you on one of our courses soon and hope you have a great training experience!
